Project Snapshot

We partnered with Deshkal Society with the objective of improving the effectiveness of School Organization & Management to benefit 61,000 school children in 193 Government Primary Schools.

This project successfully improved the effectiveness of school organization and management; fostered effective school – community engagement and increased parents’ involvement in their children’s education.

Project Interventions

The project focused on providing an inclusive environment to the children from diverse backgrounds. Apart from developing toolkits for teachers for innovative & engaging teaching modules, the project also focused on establishing regular basic school amenities like mid day meal, stationary, proper sanitation facilities in schools.  The project focused on enhancing teachers’ motivational levels by establishing regular award & certification system & also conducting annual exposure trip to nearby schools to replicate best practices in teaching.


  • Improvement in attendance in schools, from 59.60% in 2011 to 73.50% in 2014  & drop in school drop-out rate to 26.50% from 40.40% in 2011.
  • The percentage of children in primary classes that could read increased from 70.2% in 2011 to 88.5% in 2014; the respective numbers for the children able to do elementary arithmetic saw a leap from 88.5% in 2011 to 97%.
