Monsanto organises “Pragati Divas - 2017” to showcase high yielding Seminis hybrid seeds


More than 900 progressive farmers participate in the event in Karnal

Karnal, Thursday, May 11, 2017: Monsanto India, a sustainable agriculture company, today organised a ‘Pragati Divas – 2017’ at Karnal where it showcased its high yielding Seminis® hybrid vegetable portfolio. More than 900 progressive farmers, nursery growers and trade partners participated in the event to witness the benefits of Seminis® hybrid seeds. 

Visitors at the Pragati Divas witnessed various varieties of vegetable hybrids covering tomato, peppers, gourds, cucumber, cauliflower, cabbage, okra, radish, watemelon and eggplant. Farmers were also provided details on the salient features of the upcoming hybrids in maize and vegetables. They were also enlightened on the breeding science behind development of these hybrids; while being walked through kiosks displaying the advantages of technology in agriculture.

In addition, with an objective to demonstrate new concepts and technologies to various stakeholders, Monsanto has established Centres of Excellence (CoEs) across various regions of India. At these CoEs, farmers witness techniques for Integrated Weed Management, Technology Showcasing, High – Density & Mechanical Planting, Weed Control and Crop Diversification amongst others.

Monsanto’s field teams, 80 percent of who are from rural backgrounds constantly engage with farmers to provide them with inputs on best crop management practices which will enable secure optimum yields.
