More than 200 progressive farmers, dealers, distributers and trade partners participated in the event to witness the features and benefits of these new hybrids.

Farmers in Madhya Pradesh have always preferred Seminis® hybrid seeds as they provide uniform and heavy fruit setting, faster maturity and increased yields. And now, they are looking forward to these varieties of Seminis® tomato hybrids - "Horsley" & "SV3466". These hybrids give an output of healthy red fruits which weighs around 100-120 grams each. This weightage is way better than the average variety.

Anurag Bajpai, Regional Business Manager, Monsanto said, "Through constant engagement with farmers across the country, Monsanto has always endeavoured to understand their needs better. The frequent engagements have enabled us to develop superior quality seeds. Our seeds are suitable for varied agronomic conditions. With Horsley and SV3466, farmers can get plants having an excellent fruit bearing capacity. Moreover, in adverse climate, these seeds have high resistance."

Across geographies, adverse weather conditions have always been a challenge for vegetable farmers.

Samapt Rao, farmer from Imalikheda village in Chhindwara district said, "I am very happy with excellent output that we have received using Seminis® hybrids. Seminis® hybrid seeds have high yields and uniformity over multiple pickings. Additionally, they have shown high tolerance to disease, insects, virus and adverse climatic conditions. These features have helped us fetch excellent prices on the end produce."

Farmers in Madhya Pradesh have more than 70 distinct Seminis® vegetable hybrid seeds to choose from. These vegetable hybrid seeds consist of beans, cabbage, cauliflower, cucumber, gourds, hot pepper, musk melon, onion, sweet pepper, tomato and watermelon.

Kamal Patehy, farmer from Bisapur village in Chhindwara district said, "Apart from providing us with excellent hybrid seeds, the Monsanto field team also engages with us on a consistent basis and shares advisories on the best agronomic practices like spacing, nursery management, pest & disease management practices. This has helped me immensely in getting a good output from my field."

Monsanto’s field teams, 80 percent of whom are from rural backgrounds constantly engage with farmers and provide them with inputs on best crop management practices which enable them to secure optimum yields.

In addition, with an objective to demonstrate new concepts and technologies to various stakeholders, Monsanto has established Centres of Excellence (CoEs) across various regions of India. At these CoEs, farmers witness techniques for Integrated Weed Management, Technology Showcasing, High Density & Mechanical Planting, Weed Control and Crop Diversification amongst others.
